Managed migration of universal credit to roll out in West Scotland, West Yorkshire, Staffordshire, Derbyshire and South London from August 2023

DWP also confirms that its discovery phase for moving couples in receipt of tax credits onto universal credit is ongoing

The DWP has confirmed plans for the roll out of universal credit managed migration in West Scotland, West Yorkshire, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, and South London.

In line with its plan to extend the managed migration programme to every GB region by September 2023, the DWP has today announced in a meeting with stakeholders that roll out to the new areas will begin from August 2023.

In addition, the DWP confirmed that, while migration notices are generally only being sent to single tax credit claimants, its discovery phase for moving couples on tax credits on to universal credit is ongoing, and that this is being carried out across all areas where managed migration is currently taking place.

NB – in April 2023, the Department for Communities commenced its 'move to universal credit' discovery phase in Northern Ireland in Andersonstown and Enniskillen.
