New housing benefit guidance provides details of additional New Burdens funding of around £115,000

Additional funding is to be allocated to local authorities in Scotland to support the costs of checking and recording adult disability payment (ADP) information.

In new housing benefit subsidy guidance, S8/2023, the DWP advises that the additional funding of £115,784.24 –

'… is intended to meet New Burdens incurred by local authorities as a result of the following activities –

  • checking ADP award details
  • recording ADP award details on housing benefit systems
  • reporting outcomes to the Department for Work and Pensions.'

The awards range from £251.68 for Shetland Islands Council to £25,923.04 to Glasgow City Council.
